Replacing Conventional Heating Boilers with High Efficiency Condensing Boilers

Since 2010, we’ve been gradually replacing our old 70% efficient conventional hot water heating and domestic hot water boilers with new 97% efficient condensing boilers.  The net result will be a reduction of approximately 25% per site in natural gas consumption ($7,000 per elementary school site) and associated greenhouse gas emissions (62 tCO2 per elementary school site).  So far, we have converted Sunshine Hills, Devon Gardens, Pinewood and Annieville Elementary Schools, and the School Board Office with funding assistance provided by FortisBC through its Efficient Boiler Program.
