Delta Youth Sustainability Network
The Delta Youth Sustainability Network involves students from North Delta, Seaquam, Delta, South Delta, Burnsview, Delview, and Sands Secondary Schools along with the aid of the Delta School District and Be the Change Earth Alliance. This District-wide collaborative group initiates green projects and inspires students along with the community and educates their peers about being eco-friendly.
Each school is encouraged to set up a “Green Team”, which truly is the core of DeltaGreen. Consisting of stakeholders of the school environment (students, teachers, support staff, administrators, parents and others), the Green Team is democratic, can be run by the students themselves, and can be charged with coordinating many greening activities (recycling, energy and water conservation, reduction in waste and paper consumption, composting, etc.), making recommendations to the Sustainability Advisory Committee, and facilitating communication among and actions by the whole school community.
